Castle Bay on Barra held a nineteenth-century brig, a simple wooden span across water where boats and carts needed passage. The Hebrides were not gentle to building; salt air and winter storms consumed what human hands made careless. A brig there meant someone believed the crossing mattered enough to risk losing the work.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Unknown: Castle Bay, Barra, Sea of the Hebrides as Brig (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
