What is recorded here

Moated site in Moynetemple is a moated site in Moynetemple, County Tipperary, Ireland. The 1905 edition Ordnance Survey six-inch map depicts a rectangular enclosure whose north side is destroyed. A later inventory recorded that the site was not visible at ground level during a visit when the field contained wheat.
Situated on a S-facing slope of rising ground in undulating countryside. Depicted as a rectangular enclosure with the N side destroyed on the 1905 ed. OS 6-inch map. Not visible at ground level, field in wheat at time of visit. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
