PLATFORM RATH in Moybrone

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

Moybrone holds a platform rath, a raised earthwork built by human hands long before modern borders drew their lines. The platform shape suggests people stood above the surrounding land, watching weather, movement or danger from a small artificial hill. That much is clear. Whether they watched for trade, prayer or war remains unknown, but the act of building upward still points to a community confident enough to reshape the earth itself.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
