What is recorded here

No visible door exists, yet the chamber still stands twenty metres inside the outer rampart. Its double kerb and rubble wall form a solid four-and-a-half metre circle on level ground, overlooking the steep descent toward the fort edge. The absence of an entrance suggests the building may have served a hidden purpose, perhaps as a storage place, ritual chamber or private dwelling where access was deliberately concealed.

Situated c. 20m inside the outer rampart in the SW quadrant of Mooghaun hillfort (CL042-074001-) on level, relatively stone-free ground, overlooking a steep slope down to the outer rampart. Depicted on a coloured, large-scale (5-inch) OS plan from 1840. A hut site (diam. 4.5m) defined by a double-kerbed and rubble filled wall. There is no clear entrance feature.
