Grave Yard in Castleisland, County Kerry, holds the buried remains of St Nicholas and the later church of St. Stephen. Two churches stood together on the northern edge in 1841, but only St. Stephen’s trace survives clearly today. The graveyard is not empty of meaning; it is layered, with older faith and newer worship sharing the same soil.

Two churches (KE040-027----) are depicted standing in the N quadrant of Castleisland graveyard on the 1841 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Only the C. of I. church dedicated to St. Stephen is depicted on the revised editions of the OSi maps. The W tower of the ruins of St. Stephen's church represents the remains of the medieval church (KE047-027----) of Castleisland which was dedicated to St Nicholas (Cal. papal letters, 1452, 518).
