What is recorded here
In pasture, located on a narrow N–S ridge which extends along the E side of Kilcummin Head. The ground falls away steeply at E towards a cliff-edged shoreline, giving excellent views over Killala Bay.
Not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. A cluster of three large stones are located at the WSW end of a truncated length of ENE–WSW field bank (L 9.7m; Wth 2.4m; H 0.45m). The cluster includes an upright slab (L 1.75m E–W; H 0.9m; T 0.6m), a large prostrate slab (1.5m NW-SE; 1.05m NE–SW) lying immediately to SE, and an irregular-shaped boulder (max. dim. c. 1.5m; H 1.1m) 0.5m to E. There is an isolated boulder (L 0.9m E–W; Wth 0.65m; H 0.9m) located c. 6m from the cluster at the ENE terminal of the field bank. The significance of these stones is uncertain.
