Drum Graveyard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Drum Graveyard holds the last standing wall of a timber church first raised in 440 AD, beside gravestones from the 1700s and unmarked plots that may stretch back to Saint Patrick himself. The Fitzgerald Kenny plot marks local bloodline, a broken caiseal lies in the western field, and a stone footprint behind the graves claims Patrick’s own passage. People may have slept near that wall, tended buried kin or watched rain fill the old foundation; the site still keeps the shape of devotion even when its names have faded.
Drum Graveyard is a graveyard in County Mayo, Ireland.
