Aughavale Cemetery

Aughavale Cemetery holds an ancient ruined church inside the Churchfield townland, marking a place where Christian worship and older memory still share the same soil. The graveyard stands in County Mayo beside Streamstown, Ardoley, Aghamore and Knockaraha East, while its Irish name, An Nuachabháil, echoes in Oughaval. People may have kept returning there because the church and graves made the field continuous rather than empty, a living boundary between the townland and its dead.
