Rathmweel

Rathmweel is a triple-banked rath on a low ridge above Lough Conn in County Mayo, where at least four other raths and a church site cluster within five hundred metres. Its outer bank has become a field boundary, its entrances have vanished under brambles and hazel, and its middle bank has worn thin, yet the three rings still stand in quiet repetition. People may have lived there because the ridge watched the water and the neighbouring enclosures watched each other, forming a small world of farms, pride and daily choice.
