Man-made underground passage in Nevinstown

Situated in a fairly level landscape. The passage (L c. 12m) and beehive chamber of a badly robbed Man-made underground passage was excavated (E000164) by M. Cahill in 1977 as Site III in advance of proposed mining works (excavations.ie 1977-79:059). No artefacts were recorded from the Man-made underground passage, although two pieces of a saddle quern were recovered from a surface pit. There was no evidence of an enclosure associated with the Man-made underground passage.
