Man-made underground passage in Dunbeacon — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

No visible surface trace remains of the straight hollow close to the edge in the coastal promontory fort at Dunbeacon. It vanished beneath grass, soil or forgotten works, yet its shape is still recorded: long, level and made by human hands. What is lost is not the fact of the passage but the life that used it.

In coastal promontory fort (CO130-024001-). Westropp (1915, 284) noted 'along, straight hollow, like a collapsed Man-made underground passage, close to the edge'. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
