Man-made underground passage in Drommahane — Report the wrong picture

Drommahane ringfort in County Cork still carries a shallow western depression, perhaps the ghost of collapsed underground chambers. Bowman measured a deeper south-western hollow in 1934, calling it a passage site. The earth may have swallowed stone rooms where people once walked below the fort, leaving only a dimple for later feet to stumble across.

In ringfort (CO041-075---). Depression (L 8m; max. Wth 5m; D 0.45m) extending from centre towards bank to W may indicate position of collapsed Man-made underground passage chambers. Bowman (1934, 561) also noted that a 'depression on the S.W. 5 yds. by 4 by 2 ft. deep, indicates Site of Man-made underground passage'.
