Holy wells have long drawn people who were lost, ill or in love. Water remembers what lungs forget. It returns certainty to bodies that have spent too much time doubting.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as HOLY WELL: FONS MIRACULOSIS or TOBERNASOOL or TUBBERNASOOL. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

Linked to Saint Fons or an otherwise unidentified early Christian saint, the well known as Tobernasool was traditionally associated with miraculous cures and pilgrimage. The name "Fons Miraculosis" suggests a site of healing, with local folklore indicating it may have been visited for ailments, particularly skin conditions, and its waters were often collected for home use during times of illness.
