Doon Rock is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. A crannog is an ancient artificial island, often built with stone, soil and wood, where people lived, kept animals or marked a boundary long before modern roads. The rock still stands where water and land meet, inviting imagination about lamps, rowboats, children and winter storms.
