Liss was a circular fort on a marshy rise above Kenmare Bay, but the earth has swallowed the wall and erased the cave within it. It vanished between two map editions, leaving behind a clean gap where a defended life once turned. The bay keeps what the survey now forgets.

Liss/Lios: This site was located on a natural rise in an area of marshy ground overlooking Kenmare Bay to S. On the first edition of the OS map it is shown as a circular enclosure, but on the second edition it is marked 'site of’. There is now no trace of the enclosure, referred to as a 'fort with a cave (KE092-031----) in it' in the OSNB (Templeno, 42). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
