Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lisduff

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not human fortifications. They are the hidden architectures of the realm beneath, and Lisduff is no exception. The farmyard sits above a chamber where distance and memory bend. What looks like a ordinary field is a threshold, and the land there still breathes.
In pasture, atop low rise, immediately NNW of farmyard. Roughly circular area (22m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.5m; Wth 6m), but which is overlain by field boundary N->ENE. Band of tall dark grass (Wth c. 2.5m) runs along base of scarp S->N, and probably indicates line of infilled fosse. Break in scarp at N (Wth 3.5m). Interior, under pasture, dips slightly down towards centre. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
