This white commemorative plaque records: Former Municipal Offices for Lewes Borough Council. Designed by the Lewes Architect Rowland Hawke Halls (1879-1919) and opened on 27th January 1914. George Bankart (1866-1929) sculpted the plaster friezes from drawings made at Exceat, near Seaford. Recorded plaque organisation: Friends of Lewes Society.
The building formerly housed Lewes Borough Council's offices and is notable for its design by Rowland Hawke Halls and the decorative plaster friezes created by George Bankart.
