Structure

A loose arrangement (Wth 1.8m; D 0.2m) of light brushwood, laid three pieces deep, in the drain face and on the adjacent field surface. The pieces are widely spaced in a dispersed, irregular fashion with no apparent structure. Some possible pegs on the field surface have been disturbed by milling. Woodworking is evidenced by chisel and wedge points. The site is in well-humified Sphagnum peat. This material may represent one or more structures. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1994. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
