Structure

A loose arrangement (L 1m; Wth 0.89m min.; D 0.19m) of brushwood and twigs on the field surface. The site consists of approximately twenty pieces of light brushwood, laid five pieces deep, with occasional twigs. The pieces are widely spaced and are orientated approximately N-S but some pieces are irregularly laid. A number of elements have been worked to chisel points. Two pieces of brushwood were identified as alder and willow, respectively. The site is in well-humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1994. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
