Road

The site (L 1.5m min.; Wth 0.88m; D 0.12m) consists of light, closely-spaced brushwood, laid 3-4 pieces deep, with six possible pegs on the field surface. Occasional transverse pieces are also incorporated into the structure. The site tapers in width from 1.55-0.3m from N-S. The pegs are set at 20-50° and are located around the outer limits of the site. Although initially recorded as pegs it would seem likely that a number of the elements were originally in a horizontal position but have since been disturbed by milling. Woodworking is evidenced by metal-cut chisel points on a number of pieces. Wood species identified include alder, hazel and birch. The site is in well-humified Sphagnum peat.
