Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Leitrim South is a fairy fort or stone ringfort in Leitrim South, County Sligo, Ireland. It stands in pasture on a ridge as a raised circular area enclosed by grass-covered drystone foundations with numerous gaps. A stone field boundary crosses the west perimeter, while an eastern entrance is revetted by stone on the north side. Local information says quantities of stone were removed from the wall in the past and the cashel served as a children's burial ground.
In pasture, on top of a ridge. A raised circular area (19.5m N-S; 20.5m E-W) enclosed by grass-covered foundations of a drystone wall (Wth. 2.2m; int. H 0.3m) NW-SW, with numerous gaps. A stone-built field boundary crosses the W perimeter of the cashel. There is a gap in the wall at NE and an entrance (Wth. 2.8m), revetted by stone on the N side, at E. The interior is raised c. 0.6m above ground level. According to local information, quantities of stone were removed from the enclosing wall in the past. Also according to local information, this cashel was used as a children's burial ground (SL038-078001-).
