What is recorded here
Kilkenny Castle shed these fragments during Ben Murtagh's excavations, pulling buried architecture into light before retreat into storage. They rest now in an OPW depot in Kilkenny, waiting for eyes hungry enough to read what the castle forgot. Murtagh dug them from castle soil, not from myth, yet they have become myth through neglect. What the depot holds, the world forgets. What the world forgets, the depot protects.
In storage at the OPW depot, Kilkenny. Architectural fragments from Ben Murtagh's archaeological excavations at Kilkenny Castle (KK019-026078-) (License numbers: E000627 and 99E0481).
