What is recorded here

Indicated is a surviving fairy fort in County Kerry, marked on imperial maps before local memory faded. Cattle still break through its eastern bank, proving the fort remains alive to bodily desire even when human certainty leaves it. The measured earth and mapped circle record that people once believed the boundary mattered enough to keep.

In pasture, on a gentle NNE-facing slope. A roughly circular area (diam. c. 34m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.35m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.25m) N-SSE and by a slight scarp (Wth 5.2m; max. ext. H 0.65m) WSW-N. The interior slopes down to the NNW. The remaining bank is incorporated into a field boundary system. There is a cattle break at E. The rath is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map and as an oval enclosure (c. 40m N-S; c. 35m E-W), incorporated into the field boundary system, on the 1894 OS 6-inch map.
