What is recorded here

Thirty metres across on a north-west slope above a river valley, the earth still holds its shape: a wide flat-topped bank, two metres thick and nearly two metres high, with a shallow ditch marking its western edge. The interior has gone dark under vegetation, denying the kind of certainty people prefer. What remains is a circle large enough to walk, on high ground chosen for sight rather than comfort, and that much is written in the land itself.

Situated on the NW facing slope on high ground in upland area overlooking valley and river to the North. Raised circular area (N-S diam 30m approx.) enclosed by a wide flat topped bank (Wth 2m; ext. H 1.7m) with external fosse visible at W (Wth 2m) only. Impossible to examine site interior due to dense vegetation.
