What is recorded here

Gallán is a rectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 1.65 metres on a west-south-west-facing pasture slope. Its long axis points northeast-southwest, and it appeared on neither the 1842 nor 1904 Ordnance Survey maps. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial, a meeting place or a forgotten prayer, yet no human name, date or event has survived to explain why it was set upright.
