Knocknascrow 5 is a tiny circular drystone hut built into the southeast side of a massive cairn on Temple Hill, overlooking Limerick, Cork and Tipperary. Its east wall stretches slightly further south to break the wind, creating a narrow shelter one metre high inside. Shepherds or surveyors may have used it, but the hill still keeps that much to itself.

Situated on the summit of Temple Hill with commanding views of SE Limerick, N Cork and much of S Tipperary. Listed as Knocknascrow 5 (Costello 2016, 309). Roughly circular drystone-walled shelter (ext. dims. 2.7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.6m; T 0.6m) built into SE side of massive cairn (LI058-001----) which is open to the S , although its E wall extends slightly further S so as to act as a windbreak. Possibly a shelter for shepherds (Costello 2020, 116) or for OS workers when constructing Trig. Station marking OD 2570 ft. on top of cairn on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map.
