Knockburrane held a circular earthen fort on the Kerry landscape, visible enough for surveyors to mark it in 1841 and again in 1914. The ring vanished before aerial cameras flew overhead in 1974, leaving no surface trace for later eyes to find. Whatever life moved inside that hidden circle has returned to the soil, carrying its memories beneath the grass.

Situated to the S of KE016-041----, this circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 and 1914-15 OS maps, and a slight trace of it can be noted on the Geological Survey of Ireland's aerial photographs (1974).
