What is recorded here

In pasture, on top of a knoll. A circular area (34m N-S) raised a maximum of 2m above the surrounding ground level. The edge of the interior is defined by grass-covered foundations of a drystone wall (Wth 2m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 2m). An external dry flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 3m at base; D 0.7m) is evident along the W and NW arcs. A step (Wth 6m), defined by a scarp (H 0.1m) is visible at the base of the bank along the E arc. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
