What is recorded here
Killinane holds two castle markers on the 1655 Down Survey, but neither has a visible room, gate or yard left for human judgement. The larger mark sits west of the other, preserved only in a drawn line and a coordinate. Forgive the absence of wall or roof; the survey still distinguished the larger from the smaller, and that much remains.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
