What is recorded here
Detached four-storey former water mill, built c.1860, currently largely unroofed and not in use. Remains of pitched slate roof. Rubble limestone walls. Square-headed doorway with dressed stone lintel and sheeted timber door to ground floor. Square-headed window openings to upper floors, with remains of timber frames. Cast and wrought-iron machinery still in situ.
This former water mill forms part of a small-scale industrial complex, which comprised the water mill, a mill house, mill race and dam and associated outbuildings. Although now in poor condition, it is a physical reminder of the industrial heritage of the area and the machinery is also of interest.
