Thomas Dollard lost his life in the Friary Street Ambush on February 21st 1921, caught between Crown Forces and the I.R.A. rather than choosing a side. The memorial in County Kilkenny still bears his name, a sharp reminder that war does not ask permission before taking innocent blood.
