Kilferagh holds St Fiachra’s Bed, a clifted overhanging rock about fifty yards south of his holy well, its outer edge propped with loose stones. The shape suggests a man large enough to lie beneath stone and sky, waiting for devotion rather than dying. Local memory turns geology into hospitality: the saint did not leave a tomb, he left a bed.

Associated with St Fiachra’s holy well (KK020-050004-) and described as St Fiachra’s bed (An t-Athair Micheál 1946-7, 63). A field report describes it as, ‘about 50 yards [c. 47m] south of the well is a clifted over hanging rock the outer side is built up with loose stones it is called St Feechars Bed’ (OPW correspondence, no date).
