Kilcolgan More holds a circular sunken well inside a 17th century bawn, perhaps as old as Kilcolgan Castle itself. Its dry stone lining reaches 3.6m down to water, and a 19th century pump later forced that hidden depth into everyday use. The farmhouse still stands above it, drawing life from the same dark column of earth.

Circular sunken well (int. diam. 0.75m; D to water 3.6m; Max D 5m) with a dry stone lining located in the N quadrant of a 17th centurybawn (OF005-011002-). The well is located immediately S of the gable of a 19th century farmhouse and was adapted during this period when a water pump was inserted into the well.
