What is recorded here

Boston Island in Killywillin is a small Crannog platform built among reeds and shallow water. It is the kind of place where people may have lived, kept animals or hidden tools when the land around became dangerous or crowded. The official name still hovers between island and Crannog, as if the lake itself refuses to say which one it is.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG: BOSTON. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
