What is recorded here

In upland pasture west of the Galtee Mountain range, a hidden oval enclosure holds fast. The 1897 map caught its shallow dimensions and western ditch, but the earlier 1840 survey missed it entirely. Trees still cluster above the earthwork, suggesting that people once shaped the land before forgetting the shape.

In upland pasture to W of Galtee Mountain range, 160m E of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Baurnagurrahy. Enclosure (LI057-019002-) lies to immediate S. Not depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area (dims. 18m NE-SW; 16m NW-SE) defined by a scarp with an external fosse from W-N. Truncated at N by field boundary running NW-SE and at SE by a field boundary curving from NE-SW. Recorded by Westropp as a conjoined fort (1919-17, 21).
