Tony Miller documented the tiny Shehy Beg hut on 28th January 2013, revealing a cramped shelter pressed against the southern enclosure wall. Measuring barely two metres across, the collapsed structure offers no visible entrance, suggesting a hidden doorway or a forgotten exit now buried beneath soil. The placement indicates deliberate use of the main fortress boundary rather than careless dumping, transforming a marginal spot into a functional living space.

This hut site was reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland by Tony Miller on 28th January 2013. He describes it as follows: "In addition this enclosure (CO093-099----) has a small hut site built against the exterior of the southern perimeter wall, just where some of the contiguous slabs are found. Its internal measurements are c. 1.8m north-south and c. 2m east-west. The walls are in a collapsed state and do not stand much above the ground level. No entrance is visible."
