Hut site in Na Gleannta Thuaidh

Hut site

What is recorded here

This is one of three possible huts (KE034-132007-, KE034-132008-) described by Cuppage (1986, 413, no. 1340) as 'D-shaped structures abutting the inner face of the SW wall of the enclosure. They range from 2.1 x 1.2m to 4 x 3m in diameter internally and their walls are nowhere more than 0.6m high.' These lies 'within or directly outside a large, roughly square enclosure/field [KE034-132001-]'. It is unclear from the entry the precise location of this possible hut site and how it relates to the 'sheepfolds' marked on the OS 6-inch map (1893-4). Consequently, this possible hut site has to be considered an unlocated monument until such time as the area can be further investigated. (Sheila Ronan, 30 June 2006)

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
