Hut site in Gleann Fán

Clochán Ais: In rough mountain pasture in a large SE sloping field to W of the Glanfahan river. A complex group of drystone-built structures. The northernmost is a circular corbelled drystone hut with an entrance gap at E and a small oval annex, 1.3 x 1.1m, opening off its NW side. The interior of the hut has been subdivided internally for use as a sheep-shelter. D: 3.6m. H: 1.4m. T: 1.25m. Abutting the hut at SE is the northernmost of 3 small chambers. These latter are respectively circular, sub-rectangular and sub-circular in plan, and the largest is 1.8m in maximum dimension internally. A short distance S of the latter structures is a rectangular drystone-built structure. D: 2.5 x .9m. H: .6m. T: .6m. South of the latter is a circular corbelled drystone structure, its lintelled entrance at SE opening into a small forecourt. D: 2.05m. H: 1.75m. The above description is derived from J.
