Hut site in Canalough

On a level terrace, on the N side of an E-W rough pasture ridge with occasional outcropping rock, beside the seashore on the S side of Blackball Harbour. The grass-covered remains of a D-shaped hut site (4.6m E-W) defined by a curving earthen bank (Wth 0.9m; H 0.25m) with a straight E side (L 4.3m). Occasional occurrences of stone are visible in the bank. The interior is obscured by long grass. There is a hut site (CO127-050006-) c. 55m to the W and another hut site (CO127-050008-) is c. 6m to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
