Hut site in Ballard Commons

In rough hill pasture, on bog, on the SE-facing slopes of Maulin overlooking the valley of the Owgarriff River. The remains of a D-shaped hut site (1.8m E-W) defined by the jumbled lower courses of a curving drystone wall (T 0.45m; H 0.4m) with a straight W side (L 2.2m) comprising the linear face of outcropping rock (L 2.2m). The stones of the drystone wall protrude above the surface of the bog. The level interior, which is obscured by rushes, is raised (H 0.4m) at the E to compensate for the hillslope.
