Kelly's Cave is a sixteen-metre limestone passage in County Mayo where carved benches and a roof skylight suggest centuries of deliberate human occupation. Local tradition claims a fugitive named Kelly sheltered there after the 1798 Rebellion or survived the Penal era as a highwayman, transforming a simple rock hole into a stage for desperation and resistance. Whether born from prehistoric necessity or medieval hermitage, the cave remains a narrow chamber where ordinary people hid from extraordinary times.

In levelled ringfort (MA121-080001-). No surface evidence remains. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as 'Cave' on the SSW edge of the ringfort. The above description has been derived from D.
