Holy well in Ballyshane (glenquin By.)

Holy well in Ballyshane (glenquin By.) is a spring in an earth-cut pool, two and a half metres across and sixty-five centimetres deep, set in level pasture in County Limerick. Its outflow runs north before joining a broader drain, carrying water from the hidden ground into the open field. The well was celebrated for curing lameness and blindness, yet had gone out of use by the 1950s. It may have been visited by lame people, blind people, or families hoping for relief, but that life has faded from memory. What remains is a small pool, a drifting drain, and the chance that mercy once rose through the soil there.
