Battle of Philiphaugh is a major battle site with a checked map point.
Covenanters led by General David Leslie defeated the Royalist army under James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose, near Selkirk in June 1645. The victory ended Montrose's successful campaign in Scotland and marked a turning point in the First Civil War, strengthening Covenanter control.
