What is recorded here

Castle Roy is a ruined rectangular keep built around 1200 by Clan Comyn near Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorms. Its stark walls controlled Highland routes and later passed to Clan Grant after the Comyns lost power. A 17th-century brooch surfaced there, hinting that the place remained lived-in long after its military purpose faded.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Roy as Findspot (period Unassigned), Brooch (17th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
