U-965 (possibly): North Minch

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U-965 (possibly): North Minch as Craft (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

U-965 was a German Type VIIC U-boat that was lost in the North Minch area off the Scottish coast in May 1943. It was sunk by depth charges from a British aircraft, resulting in the loss of all 52 crew members; its wreck remains an important site for understanding World War II naval warfare in the North Atlantic.
