This bronze commemorative plaque records: Guildford Old Bank Established 1765 This building was altered and extended in 1899 when the old front was retained at the special request of H.R.H. the Princess Louise Marchioness of Lorne and the Rt. Honble the Viscount Midleton Lord Lieutenant of Surrey on behalf of The old Guildford Society. Recorded plaque organisation: Guildford Historic Trail.
Guildford Old Bank, established in 1765, is significant for its long-standing role in local commerce and its architectural preservation, notably retaining its original frontage in 1899 due to the intervention of Princess Louise Marchioness of Lorne and Viscount Midleton.
