What is recorded here
In the chancel of the Augustian abbey (TS068-013---) at Athassel, 5m from the E gable and lying against the S wall. It is described by Maher (1997, 53) as the lower portion of a slab (L 0.52m; Wth 0.67m; average T 0.2m). 'The decorated surface is somewhat weathered, though the design is easily deciperable and consists of the lower portion of a lightly incised outline cross-stem terminating in a trefoil motif. There is no evidence to suggest that the slab bore an inscription' (ibid.).
