What is recorded here
On S-facing slope beside road. This roughly rectangular graveyard (c. 40m by c. 45m) was the family plot of the Eyre family of Clifden Castle, the ruined 19th-C mansion situated c. 200m to S. It is bounded by a modern stone wall except on W side where a low bank forms the enclosing element. Only one inscribed graveslab is visible, dating to the 1870s, but there are a number of small stones in NE corner.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
