What is recorded here

Tobernanaspog, the Well of the Bishops, sits immediately south of a public road in County Kilkenny. It has kept that name since at least 1839, when surveyors first drew it into the landscape. Bishops may have drunk from it, or merely passed beside it, but the water remains tied to their shadow. A holy well does not need proof; it needs only to be remembered as holy.

Tobernanaspog is traditionally known as 'the Well of the Bishops', a name suggesting historical or ecclesiastical associations, though specific saints or rituals linked to the site are not clearly recorded.
