Hut site in Gortloughra

In rough hill grazing, on a N-facing heather-covered slope overlooking the valleys of the Gortloughra and Owvane Rivers. The remains of a rectangular hut site (3.2m N-S; 2m E-W) defined by the collapsed lower courses of a roughly built drystone wall, some of which protrude from shallow bog. Rubble partially obscures the interior of the hut site. The collapsed entrance (Wth c. 0.4m) is at N. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
